silicone cake pans
Silicone cake pans offer several advantages over traditional metal or glass pans. Silicone is naturally a nonstick surface so you don't need to grease or spray your cake pans before baking. The flexible material bends, so you can easily remove your cake from the pan. Silicone heats evenly and is safe for baking up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit or for use in the freezer down to negative 76 degrees. The nonporous surface will not absorb odors and is germ resistant. Professional chefs have been using silicone cookware for years, and now it is widely available for the home chef.
1.Preheat your oven to the temperature listed on your recipe or cake mix.
2.Place your Silicone Cake Pan on a cookie sheet for easier handling. Silicone pans are flexible, so they can be difficult to put in the oven without spilling batter. The cookie sheet will solve this problem.
3.Prepare the cake batter according to your recipe. Pour your batter directly into the pan. Greasing the pan is not necessary, even if your recipe directs you to do so.
4.Place the cookie sheet and Cake Pan in the oven and allow the cake to bake as directed by your recipe. Cakes baked in silicone pans may bake more quickly, so check your cake for doneness 5 to 10 minutes earlier than your recipe suggests.
5.Remove the cookie sheet and Cake Pan from the oven when your cake is fully cooked. Allow the cake to cool before removing it from the pan. Silicone cools quickly, so your Cake Pan will be safe to touch after a few minutes, but the cake inside will still be hot.
6.Remove the cake from the pan once it has cooled. Loosen the sides of the pan by peeling the silicone away from the cake, and press up on the bottom of the pan to lift the cake up and out.
7.Wash your Cake Pan according to the manufacturer's instructions. Most silicone cookware is dishwasher safe, but some types need to be washed by hand.
